ASD Connector
An interactive newsletter for families and the London, Ontario community who are affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinic at CPRI (Child Parent Resource Institute) is one of the largest clinics at the organization. Each month a newsletter is produced to be sent to families and community partners who are involved with the clinic. This summer I had the great opportunity of working with this clinic to redesign their interactive newsletter.
Understanding your user
When I was approached to help out with the redesign of this project I first wanted to set up a meeting with the staff who were responsible for its original creation. The real point of this meeting was to understand who this newsletter was going to. Once I learned that this newsletter was geared to three groups of people (families, community partners, clinicians) I then started my process of designing it to fit these three users.
Change is not alway easy
Redesigning this interactive newsletter was a great experience and definitely came with its challenges. One thing I learned about working on this project was that sometimes your clients are shocked by the changes you make to their work. This newsletter had been sent out for 20 years. Once I sent them over the first draft of changes they were shocked at how different it looked. Overall, the newsletter turned out great and I was able to gain a new appreciation for how some individuals need time to adjust to change with a product they have known for so long.
