Sanctuary Webinar
"Sanctuary is a theory based, trauma-informed, evidence-supported,whole culture approach that has a clear and structured methodology for creating or changing an organizational culture." - Dr. Sandra L. Bloom.
For this topic Jenn Pearce and I created a webinar to teach others about how this was being implemented in our organization.
This was webinar was created to teach community partners, families, and other organizations about what the Sanctuary Model was. Sanctuary is an evidence informed way to run an organization. Since CPRI (Child Parent Resource Institute) deals with mental health, it is important to change your way of thinking from “what is wrong with you” to “what has happened to you”. This webinar covers the theory, science and explanation for why Sanctuary is important with the work the CPRI does.
E-learning
In my time working in the Education Department I have been able to see the potential in online learning. When done properly, e-learning is a great resource to get information out to many people. One of the best tools that is on the market for creating e-learning is Adobe Captivate. This summer I was able to learn how to use it and create amazing webinars such as the one above.
Knowledge Mobilization
A word commonly used in our department is “knowledge mobilization”. This refers to moving formal research and putting into active use. By making connections between research and practice you are able to hopefully improve outcomes in many organizations. Using the Sanctuary Model and creating this webinar is a great representation of that.
